Rapid Repair Rally raises thousands for chosen charity

After two days of 500 miles of driving, fun challenges and plenty of smiles, the first-ever Rapid Repair Rally concluded in the Cotswolds on Friday 3rd October.

Together, participants have already raised over £2,500 for The Estuary of Friends charity with more donations to come following the sale of the ‘eclectic’ vehicles used in the rally.

Organised by the team at Rapid Repair Network with support from LKQ, the event featured unique cars purchased for under £1,000 each and kitted out in a variety of themes including: ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Noddy and Friends’, ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Scouts’. At each of the eight checkpoints along the route, teams completed challenges to earn points, including capturing a selfie with seagull and visiting the town with the longest name in the UK and attempting to say ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch’.

This year’s chosen charity, The Estuary League of Friends, improves the lives and wellbeing of the older generation through life-changing services and social support.

The RRN-provided back-up crew were busy along the route keeping the convoy moving and providing transport to the next challenge for those in need.

On the final night of the rally, an awards ceremony rewarded winners in the below categories:

Best Dressed – Team 5-0 – The National Accident Repair Group
Best Banger – Play boys Limo – Express Repair Group
Overall Points Winner – Fleet Scout Unite – Sopp & Sopp
Most Raised For Charity – Spoiler Alert – RRN
Mechanical Marvel – as voted for by other teams – Caravan Club and their Inbetweeners car
Wooden Spoon Champion – Throttle and Bubble – The Martini RRN team

Managing Director at RRN, Rob Hawes, said:

“A huge thanks to everyone involved in our first ever Rapid Repair Rally – to think that this was only an idea just over eight weeks ago! The event proved to be a massive success far beyond our expectations. Bringing together so many colleagues from our industry and the bond we all made was amazing. We are on target to raise over £5,000 for our supported charity which will make a huge difference to them. Participants have been asking about our plans for next year already, watch this space!”
